Hanoi turns to green, sustainable agricultural sector

Consumers' demand for safe agricultural products is increasing day by day and in order to create a source of clean food with clear origin to meet market demand, localities have been focusing on planning and developing develop safe and environmentally friendly production areas.

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Ta Van Tuong said that developing green, safe, and environmentally friendly agriculture is the inevitable direction of modern agriculture. This not only creates conditions for localities to form large-scale commodity production areas; control product quality..., but also brings high economic efficiency to farmers. Hanoi has converted more than 40,227 hectares of rice land to new agricultural production models. In this regard, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien informed that the Ministry has directed localities to implement many projects and programs to develop clean agriculture, organic agriculture, high-tech agriculture..., control food safety right from the inputs; at the same time, linking production with product consumption, developing a safe agricultural product supply chain... Up to now, the country has 463,000 hectares of crops, 16,991 hectares of aquaculture; 924 farms, and 1,249 livestock households are VietGAP certified. Through practice, production in the direction of VietGAP both saves "input" costs and limits environmental pollution...

In order to develop green agricultural models, along with strengthening propaganda to raise farmers' awareness of the use of fertilizers and pesticides, the authorities need to support businesses. , agricultural production cooperatives are safe in terms of capital as well as the ability to apply high technology to expand production scale and improve the quality of agricultural products. Currently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is developing a policy on the management and use of natural resources in an environmentally friendly manner, focusing on livestock and rice cultivation; coordinating with localities to form concentrated, safe and large-scale production areas to meet the demand for domestic consumption of clean agricultural products and for export.
