Nation posts trade deficit of over US$3 billion by mid-July

VOV.VN - The country recorded a trade deficit of more than US$3 billion between the beginning of the year and mid-July, according to details given by the General Department of Vietnam Customs. 

During the first half of July, the total export turnover decreased by 13.9% to US$12.78 billion compared to the second half of June, while import turnover surged by 4.8% to reach US$14.61 billion.

Throughout the reviewed period, four groups of export commodities enjoyed turnover exceeding US$1 billion, including phones and components, computers, machinery and equipment, along with garments and textiles.

Imported products that recorded the largest value include computers, electronic products, and components, machinery, equipment, in addition to tools and spare parts.

Most notably, between the beginning of the year and July 15, the country’s import and export turnover reached over US$345 billion, of which exports grossed over US$171 billion, while imports hit more than US$174 billion.
