Digital transformation: Bringing 4.0 technology infrastructure to the countryside

On the morning of September 23 in Hanoi, a seminar "Digital transformation and new smart rural orientations for the period 2021 - 2025" took place, co-organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Information and Communications.

 According to the report of the National Target Program NTM Coordination Office on New Rural Construction, after 10 years until now, there have been 5,350 communes (accounting for over 60% of the country's discharge), 152 district-level units ( reaching 22.7%) meeting new rural standards. Those numerical figures have exceeded the Government set targets, in addition to that, people's lives and rural infrastructure have also changed.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien, Director, Chief of Central New Rural Coordination Office shared, besides the great achievements in the process of building a new countryside over the past 10 years, currently, rural Vietnam is facing many traditional and non-traditional challenges.

Vietnam determines the period 2021 - 2025, to bring a new rural area to develop comprehensively but in-depth and adapt to the new context. Turning challenges into opportunities and the 4.0 revolution, the digital transformation revolution is a challenge and an opportunity to promote rural and agricultural sustainable development. The application of information technology and stronger application of science and technology, especially digital technology are considered as a preeminent solution to help the distance and quality of life between rural and urban areas closer to each other more.

                

Digital transformation and application of information technology in new rural construction have also been implemented in some localities, but mostly spontaneous. Starting from real life, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Information and Communications has the same idea to submit to the Government to develop a project to make information technology and digital transformation one of the criteria for rural construction. the new period 2021 - 2025, which focuses mainly on connection infrastructure, broadband, and agricultural and rural data - Tien said.

Also at the seminar, there were also presentations by the Department of Informatics (Ministry of Information and Communications) on the topic of developing digital society, digital economy in digital transformation by Mr. Nguyen Trong Duong, Deputy Director. Computerization presented around digital transformation in agriculture, management, and traceability in agriculture to limit counterfeit goods. In particular, the Post and Telecommunication Institute of Technology left an impression with the digital transformation presentation in Vietnam: Current situation and recommended solutions for the model of digital transformation for the agricultural sector with many ideas and good suggestions. The Digital Agriculture Cooperative presented the idea of ​​building models of smart villages, connected communes in building new advanced rural areas, and a model new countryside that promises to form truly literary rural areas - modern but always keep the cultural identity of the media village….
