Building a new rural area in the south central coastal region and the Central Highlands: associated with a bright, green, clean and beautiful landscape

On September 7, in Quang Nam province, the Central Steering Committee of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction held a 10-year Review Meeting in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands. The conference was attended by more than 500 delegates from ministries, central branches and 13 provinces and cities in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands.

At the conference, Mr. Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development reported a summary of 10 years of implementation of the National Program on NTMs in Central Coast region and Central Highlands. This shows that the program has achieved great results and is very prosperous to carry out the next steps. Accordingly, the Central Coastal region and the Central Highlands include 13 provinces and cities from Da Nang City to Ninh Thuan and 5 Central Highlands provinces, with a total area of ​​98,895 km2, a population of about 15 million people, and over 40 ethnic minorities. numbers live together; 1,424 communes have built NTM. Up to now, in the Central Coastal region, 378/825 communes have been recognized as meeting NTM standards, 4/8 provinces and cities have met and exceeded the targets of 2020. Constructing residential areas (KDC) of model NTMs, model gardens, many provinces and cities in the region have issued criteria for model NDCs, so far 61 KDCs have been recognized as standard, of which Quang Nam has 58 KDC; Quang Ngai has 3 areas. The system of rural roads has been invested in construction and upgrading (both regions have about 11,000 km of rural roads newly built with concrete or asphalt); 100% of communes have access to the national electricity grid and over 99% of villages and hamlets have electricity (in the Central Highlands about 99.3%, the Central Coast about 98.9%), ...

The National Target Program for NTMs has contributed to improving the living conditions of rural people. Speaking at the conference, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said that the National Program on NTM building by the Government is the most comprehensive and comprehensive action program. “The NTP development program of NTM has the following characteristics, firstly, this program is first implemented from the period of 2010 to 2020, implemented in all rural areas of Vietnam including nearly 9,000 communes and more than 600 districts. of 63 provinces and cities.
