Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended a meeting themed “Science, technology and innovation as a pillar for socio-economic development in Vietnam” in Hanoi on May 15.

The event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the International Development Innovation Alliance (IDIA).

The meeting saw the participation of representatives from ministries, agencies, localities, research institutes, universities, science and technology and start-up enterprises, outstanding scientists, and more than 50 delegates who are high-level representatives from the IDIA, international organisations and embassies.

The event offers an opportunity for Vietnamese ministries, agencies and localities and international partners to exchange views on how science, technology and innovation contribute to Vietnam’s socio-economic development.

The meeting also helps Vietnamese policy-makers, scientists and enterprises to strengthen connectivity with the IDIA network.

The IDIA includes members from the Governments, international organisations, foundations on innovation, crucial bilateral sponsors and big private organisations.

Comments and recommendations proposed by experts at the meeting are valuable and effective information for the establishment of the nation’s 10-year socio-economic development strategy (2012-2030).

The meeting is held within the framework of the “Innovation Week” in Hanoi from May 13-17, heading to comprehending tools, technology and trends related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, their risks and potential benefits to the fair and inclusive development in Vietnam and other nations. - VNA
