Hanoi CPI Up 1.31% On-Month in Dec: Statistics Office

Hanoi’s consumer price index in December is estimated to have risen 1.31% from a month earlier, marking it as the highest level so far this year, the municipal Statistics Office said.

 

The CPI was up 5.31% as compared to the same month last year.

 

Hanoi’s CPI hike is driven by foodstuffs and services; beverages and tobacco; garment and footwear; housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials; medicines; transport and cultural, sports and recreation services with growth of 0.03%-3.09%.

 

Post and telecommunication and education remained unchanged as compared to November, the office stated.

 

In December, gold rose 12.96% on-month in the city and 71.47% from a year earlier while dollar exchange rate soared 4.82% and 13.95%, respectively.

 

The Statistics Office also estimated the whole-year inflation to rise 8.22% on-year. (Vietnam Economic Times)
